Privacy Policy
This is a personal website. It collects as little personal data as it can get away with, and never sells any of it.
Who is responsible
This site is operated by Aritro Roy, an individual based in London, UK. For anything on this page, write to contact@aritroroy.com.
What is collected
Messages you send: if you email or use a contact link, I receive your address and whatever you write. That is kept only as long as it is useful to the conversation.
Technical logs: the hosting provider records standard request data such as IP address, browser type, referring page and timestamps, to serve pages and protect against abuse.
Account data: only if you sign in to the private admin area of this site. That is limited to your email address and sign-in identifiers.
What is not collected
No advertising profiles, no cross-site tracking, no selling or renting of personal data, and no automated decision-making about you.
Why it is processed
To deliver the site, to answer messages, to keep the site secure, and to understand at a rough level which pages are read. The legal basis is legitimate interest, or your consent where consent is asked for.
Sharing
Data is handled by service providers used to host the site, store its content and deliver email. They process it on instruction only. Data may also be disclosed where the law requires it.
Retention
Server logs are kept for a short operational period. Correspondence is kept while it is relevant. Anything else is deleted on request.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to processing, or withdraw consent at any time. Email contact@aritroroy.com and it will be handled promptly. If you are in the UK or EU and unhappy with the response, you can complain to your data protection authority.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
